Our 100% pure, authentic Organic Frankincense Essential Oil is distilled in the USA using only premium quality frankincense resin that has been ethically sourced and sustainably harvested in Somaliland. It is a beautifully aromatic and therapeutic quality oil that is well suited for wellness, cosmetic, aromatherapy, spiritual and fragrancing applications.

Frankincense resin has been used for centuries for many of the same applications mentioned above. It is believed that the Biblical references to incense are direct references to frankincense resin. According to the story of the three wise men (Magi) within the Gospel, frankincense resin was among the three precious gifts given to the baby Jesus.

A member of the Burseraceae plant family, Boswellia carteri is a species of frankincense that is native to Somalia and Somaliland. Boswellia carteri are small trees that tend to grow in more rocky and mountainous regions. The trees are prized for the golden, aromatic oleoresin that seeps from the tree when it is cut or injured. The dried resin helps to protect the injured area of the tree as it heals. The properties that make the resin so beneficial for protecting the tree also make the resin incredibly advantageous when incorporated into personal care applications.

Within diffuser applications, it can be helpful in supporting a healthy respiratory system. For emotional wellness, Frankincense Essential Oil is an especially grounding and balancing oil. It helps center the mind and calm the spirit. Within spiritual applications, it is considered a sacred essential oil suitable for worship and meditation.

Our United States manufacturing partner ethically sources certified organic Boswellia carteri Frankincense resin directly from landowners in Somaliland, offering them fair pricing for the resin. Co-owned by a native of Somaliland, our manufacturing partner is a mission-driven company that directs 20% of their gross revenue towards community development that improves the availability of clean water for residents of Somaliland. Their initiatives also directly support Somali-led research, erosion mitigation, equitable wages for harvesters and the improvement of living conditions. Their educational initiatives teach landowners and harvesters how to organically harvest premium quality resin while ensuring conservation of the frankincense trees.

As with all our organic ingredients, our Organic Frankincense Essential Oil is certified organic by CCOF. Boswellia carteri is not classified as an endangered species by The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). However, the species Boswellia sacra has been classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN. Both species share similarities, and we believe that it is prudent to carefully source these precious oils from ethical suppliers that are mindful of the conservation of these sacred trees.
