Calendula officinalis is a member of the Asteraceae plant family. It is most commonly referred to as the pot marigold or common marigold. Noted for their vibrant yellow-orange hue, calendula petals are edible and are prized by chefs as an alternative to saffron. Calendula extracts produced by infusion and maceration methods have been used since the 16th century to soothe a wide array of skin-related concerns.

Our premium quality Organic Calendula CO2 Total Extract is obtained by pressurized supercritical fluid extraction using carbon dioxide as the solvent. This method effectively extracts all the beneficial lipophilic constituents present in the calendula flowers. Once the extraction process is complete, the CO2 dissipates back into a gaseous state, and the extract is then carefully filtered. A maximum 0.1% Organic Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract has been added to ensure stable shelf life.

Most calendula extracts are produced by macerating calendula petals into a vegetable oil base such as sunflower or olive. Although traditional Calendula Extract offers significant advantages within skin care applications, our Organic Calendula CO2 Total is more concentrated and offers a greater composition of phytosterols and other beneficial lipophilic compounds that are naturally present in the calendula petals. Additionally the CO2 supercritical extraction process exposes the extract to far less heat during production, leading to a reduced risk of oxidation and a much more prolonged and stable shelf.

The main constituents of the extract include faradiol esters, carotenoids, sterols (sitosterol) and cuticular waxes. Organic Calendula CO2 Total Extract features a characteristic sweet, woody calendula aroma, dark brown hue and is typically semi-soft and waxy at room temperature.

Our Organic Calendula CO2 Total Extract is 100% natural. As with all of our organic ingredients, it is certified organic by CCOF.

Organic Calendula CO2 Total Extract is prized for its remarkable ability to help soothe and restore irritated, dry, itchy, damaged and other problematic skin concerns. It is particularly well suited for use within formulations intended for aging skin, and it is gentle enough, when properly diluted, for use in products intended for babies and children. For scalp care, Organic Calendula CO2 Total Extract soothes dry scalp, and it can significantly assist with other challenging scalp concerns. Comments: The Calendula CO2 Extract is so pure! Most Calendula products are suspended in carrier oils, significantly diluting what you actually want. The CO2 extraction is the purest form you can get, and From Nature With Love's quality is unparalleled. Highly recommend!

Comments: I showed my acupuncturist and when she opened it up, she exclaimed "WOW! That's pure herb right there!" I know it says in that it comes thick so I expected that. I thought it would be in a normal essential oil bottle, but it's in a little tiny container with a screw on lid. It doesn't make a difference to me, just thought I would add in case that helps anyone else.
